International Workshop on Transport at the Air Sea Interface

(by invitation only)
Heidelberg, Germany, 06.-08. September 2006

The proceedings of this workshop will be published as a monograph Transport at the Air Sea Interface - Measurements, Models and Parametrizations by Springer in the series Environmental Science.

The aim of this workshop is to bring together leading scientist from around the world, focusing on different aspects of the transport across the air-water interface. The current state of the art of research should be presented and current research interests discussed. Through these discussions, novel impulses can be generated to tackle the problem of better understanding the mechanisms of scalar transport directly at the air-sea interface. Invited scientists are leading experts in the fields of process studies and parameterizations, experimental studies, modeling and simulation. This workshop will thus try to bridge the gap between current models and measurements, as well as spark new ideas for novel simulation and experimental efforts. The focus is on small scale processes directly at the interface.

Key topics of the workshop are:
  • Measurements of small scale transport processes at the air-sea interface.
  • Novel measurement techniques for gaining insights into air-sea interactions.
  • Modeling of the transport across the air-water interface and simulation of velocities and scalars in the boundary layer.
  • Parameterizations of transfer velocities.
Please register for this workshop by writing an email to ipsec@klimt.iwr.uni-heidelberg.de.
